Our Philosophy

Our Philosophy:

We believe in five things:

Quality

We don't like to be beaten on price or quality and find that we very rarely are. We work to a very high quality control and if produce doesn't fit our exacting standards then we will not sell it. It's as simple as that.

Keeping it local

We’re passionate about keeping food local and this is why:

  • Food that hasn’t travelled far is fresher, tastes better, is more varied and keeps the food miles down
  • Spending money where we live keeps our Bramley community thriving and prosperous
  • Growing food locally preserves farmland and green space
  • Local growers can be confident that they can sell their produce. This way they can grow more of it and expand in to heritage fruit and veg. We’re very excited about this. Watch this space for profiles of our local growers.

Keeping it seasonal

Seasonal makes sense. Eating with the seasons is a natural part of life and eating seasonally means our food is more nutritious and less environmentally damaging. Yes, we know that the UK’s climate hasn’t yet squeezed out a pineapple, and there will always be a need for an emergency yam, so we’ll always provide these when you need them, but in principle we like to be guided by the seasons.

Service

We pride ourselves on our friendly, excellent service. If we’ve been bad, let us know. If we’ve been good, let us know that too. We strive for continual improvement and we can’t do that without you.

Sustainability

We’re working towards having a teeny tiny carbon footprint and we recycle everything. Leftover produce goes to the piggies down the road, our cardboard is recycled and our wooden crates are re-used or turned into bookshelves and storage.
